The Sabers/Saberettes Youth Basketball Organization is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2012 Scholarship. Congratulations to Bryce Kato ($1,000) and Michael Miyamoto ($500). Both boys are prime examples of the purpose of the organization and best exemplify academic achievement, teamwork, discipline, and community service. 


BRYCE KATO

The Sabers/Saberettes Youth Basketball Organization is pleased to announce Bryce Kato as the recipient of the $1,000 scholarship. Bryce is the son of Guy and Pam Kato. He joined the Sabers Organization when he was 5 years old and has been a part of the Wizards team for 13 years. He is an intelligent and active young man who enjoys giving back to the community. He was involved in the Sabers/Saberettes “Shots for Tots” summer basketball youth clinic and helped coach at the “Jason Nakano” basketball clinic.

Bryce graduated from Glen A. Wilson High School and will attend University of the Pacific in the fall with the goal of becoming a dentist. He hopes to be self-employed and run his own dental practice.

 

 

 

MICHAEL MIYAMOTO

The Sabers/Saberettes Youth Basketball Organization is honored to award the $500 scholarship to Michael Miyamoto. Michael is the youngest child of Lindsay and Phoebe Miyamoto and has been a part of the Wizards team for 13 years. He is a bright and amazing young man who has the strength and courage of an army! Michael’s determination to march forward is truly an inspiration to others. At age 13, he opened the ceremonies at the “American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life” along with closing the ceremony. His latest speaking engagement was at the 2012 Be The Match Gala.

Michael graduated from Walnut High School, and his dream is to become an architect with his best friend’s father, as his mentor.
